Introduction

I taught history in Jamaica at high school and university level from 1956 to 2004, and between 1975 and 1988 I worked on a PhD thesis at the University of the West Indies. My research, though sadly not my teaching, has been concentrated on Jamaica between the 'Morant Bay Rebellion' in 1865 and the new Constitution in 1944. As a teacher myself I have a specific interest in the story of teachers and schools during that period, and I find that there are many gaps in the existing telling of that story. So I have created several sites dealing with schools and teachers and I hope to use this site to link those sites together.

I have tried to be as factually accurate as possible on these pages, but there are certainly errors which need to be corrected. I shall be grateful for information on any such needed corrections.  My opinions are another matter, but I have tried to keep them to a minimum any way!

This is very much a work in progress, so I apologise for its inadequacies!
